My name is Kate Yang and I always wanted to wear a white coat; it was a symbol of scientific knowledge. I was lucky because I ended up wearing two very different versions over the last few years.
I started in the field of natural resources and environmental science. I received my bachelor degree from the University of Illinois in 2008 and immediately started the masters program. Although I was a good student, I found I often spent my free time cooking and baking rather than reading articles and studying.
I decided there was something I wanted to pursue even more: the culinary arts. I dropped out of graduate school after a year and I moved to Chicago. I completed the associate degree in baking and pastry arts from Kendall College. Within two months of graduation I had a full time job. I love working with my hands, moving around a kitchen, and making delectable pastries. Even in my spare time at home I continued to bake. I had found my passion, but there was still a dream.
Flour, sugar, eggs and butter were some of my best kitchen companions. Every Christmas I baked goodies ranging from brownies and breads to cookies and cakes to give to my friends, family and neighbors as gifts. The response was always overwhelmingly complimentary. I started to think that maybe I could actually pull off working for myself and open a bakery where I produce great items every day. However, I had no business background.
With the support of family, friends and coworkers, I decided to go back to school, this time for my Masters in Business Administration. I finished my Masters in two years with honors. And now I’m ready for more.

Our kitchen works with eggs, gluten, diary, nuts, and sugar. But we do carry gluten free/vegan products.
